ESPN is kicking off a local partnership with Cinelive to air the Premier League 2016/2017 matches live across Brazil’s cinemas.

espn cinelive premierThe broadcasting experience, which has already been tested with the Manchester City vs Middlesbrough game at the beginning of the month, intends to air one game per week featuring one of England’s leading teams, such as Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea, throughout the season.

ESPN sees the alliance with Cinelive as an important add-on to its exclusive Premier League programming. The US-based sports network has rights over 380 games per season, which air across ESPN’s three pay-TV channels and the streaming platform WatchESPN.

“The agreement with Cinelive enables sports fans to experience the Premier League’s best games live on a big screen in a comfortable venue,” said Carlos Maluf, programming and acquisitions director, ESPN. “This initiative is part of ESPN’s multiplatform strategy and it increases the Premier League visibility.”
