Mediaset adds Paramount blockbusters to Spanish FTA bouquet

    Mediaset and Paramount Pictures have inked a content agreement to take air of Hollywood’s latest blockbusters on Spain’s free-to-air (FTA) TV.

    mediaset paramountUnder the terms of the agreement, titles such as Mission: Impossible, Rogue Nation - the last episode of the saga starring Tom Cruise – and the two Ninja Turtles films will be aired through one of Mediaset’s seven FTA channels in Spain, led by Telecinco and Cuatro.

    In addition, Terminator Genesis, Zoolander 2, Start Trek: Beyond and the recently-premiered Jack Reacher: Never Go Back are also part of the deal. Other titles including Labor Day, Project Almanac, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Daddy’s Home, and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi have also been included in the agreement.

    According to Mediaset, the Spanish media company has also gained FTA rights over some of Paramount coming premieres, although no specific titles have been unveiled.

    Earlier this year, Mediaset inked a similar agreement with 20th Century Fox Television Distribution which has seen other US blockbusters air in Spain during the second half of 2016.
